General Overview – Also known as an Air wheel, the first three steps of this trick are exactly the same as the Loop. You just tweak the Space Godzilla out, and air wheel. This is a sweet trick because with only a few adjustments to your loop you can do it. This move is also easier to stick because as you land you can take a forward stroke to keep yourself in the wave or hole, which is great for competitions. The Space Godzilla is also a great competition move because it is easy to do both ways, and double your points for learning one move.

Prep - Stretch as always. That helps me with everything I try in a kayak. A loop enhancer is a good idea, a beach ball is the most common choice.

How To -

Step 1 - Get high on the pile. This can be easily accomplished by doing a flat spin in most holes. Other holes this could take more effort. Once on top of the pile, you need to line up the boat so you are looking straight at the oncoming green water.

Step 2 - Plug you boat as deep as you can into the green water in front of you. The more you plug into the green the bigger the pop and the better the trick looks and feels!

Step 3 - As soon as you feel like your boat is as deep as it will go start to stand up. Jumping of you foot pegs or bulkhead will enhance this motion. Reach for the sky. The higher you stand up the more pop you will get.

Step 4 - As you reach the top of your pop do a big sit up to the side of your boat that you wish throw the trick on. This will get you rotating.

Here is where a common mistake is made. Don’t focus on putting your paddle in the water. If you do focus on planting that blade you wont rotate with the sit up! And the will cause your space Godzilla to be less snappy and it also decreases your chance of completing the move.

Step 5 - After you have done the sit up your paddle will be in the perfect position to take the stroke to continue your rotation. You may now also relax your body position to a more neutral position.

Step 6 - As you feel the boat come around you can switch blades and use your paddle to brace or even roll-up. With this same blade you can also take a forward stroke to stay in the hole, and keep the fun goin’!
