The definition - A vertical 180 degree direction change while surfing a wave, without using your paddle or letting it making contact with the water.

Prep - The trick is an evolution of the blunt and is done on a strong fast wave.

How To -

The Move -Initiation is crucial to the success of the clean blunt.

1.) Begin at the top of the wave accelerating downward.

2.) Initiate the right edge of the boat into the wave. You do this by hopping down the wave, landing on the front right edge of the kayak and...

3.) As the kayak begins to rebound from this initiation change edges from left to right while...

4.) Throwing your body’s weight straight up the grain of the wave (upstream) while rotating the boat with your hips to the left exposing the hull of the kayak to the water’s surface.

With this proper initiation and body motion, your boat should complete the vertical 180 degree direction change with out the use of a paddle.

As your kayak makes contact back onto the wave take a strong back stroke to stay on the wave in a back surf.
