The definition - A 180 degree past vertical direction change. The Pan-Am is similar to the Air Blunt especially in the initiation and take off.

How To -

The Move -Begin the same way as an Air Blunt. As you are at the top of the wave accelerating downward initiate the right edge of the boat into the wave. You do this by hopping down the wave, landing on the front right edge of the kayak and as the kayak begins to rebound from this initiation, sharply change edges.

The timing of the bounce and changing of edges is very important in how big and powerful your Pan-Am will be.

Transfer your edges while placing your paddle as far back as you can and looking back over your shoulder to the wave behind you.

You should now be upside down on your back deck with your left paddle blade in the water. Use the left paddle bade to throw your feet underneath of you while simultaneously doing a sit up from your back deck to an upright position- this will complete the motion of the Pan-Am and you will land backward on the wave.

Stick the move with a strong back stroke to maintain a back surf and keep your boat surfing on the wave.
