| My
name is Jon Meyers, I am 16 years old and live in Bigfork, MT.
My aunt got me into paddling at the age of 12 by giving me her
old fourteen foot long, yellow fiber glass slalom boat that is
now well over twenty five years old. I learned a bomber roll then
upgraded to a Riot Hammer. The I was introduced to the Wild Mile,
a world class river in my backyard that I never knew existed.
Back then I spent hours at a park-n-play spot called Swanks Hole
located at the take out. I was very fortunate because my parents
would take the time to shuttle me around.
Now
with a drivers license, there are many more opportunities for
me. I love to go on road trips with other paddles my age. My best
friends Alex Kilyk and Lizzy English are the funnest people I
know and we enjoy hitting the road every weekend looking for a
new fun run.

The
most fun I have ever had was rallying with Brad Ludden and
Dave Freedmen for a few days on the Kootenai River in February.
The river came up to 15,000 CFS, a sick level for the V-wave
and the falls. We ran the falls a few times and had a session
at the wave until our hands were blue! This was not only
one of the most fun things I have ever done, but with the
temperature around 35 degrees, also one of the coldest things
I have ever done! |
| On
a good day, I'll wake up to run the Wild Mile with my good
friend Nathan Wilcoxen, before heading to school only minutes
from the take-out. I am very fortunate to live on the Mile
because it gives me the ability to trail any day of the season.
I enjoy what nature has to offer and log in well over 100
days a year. |
