Switch Backflip

Switch Backflip-

The switch backflip is the foundation for more technical switch flips.

When you drop in backwards, all you have to focus on is the end of the jump. When you are taking off, you actually can’t see the end of the jump. So a little shoulder rotation to whichever side is more comfortable to you and look for the lip, but make sure you hit the jump squarely.

As you hit the lip of the jump, pop straight up, then throw your head back. Get your head straight back as far as you can and your body will follow your head into the rotation. Don’t huck your body too hard or too early.

The key to sticking the jump is timing your rotation. As you are flipping, you can see the landing before everything else once you see it, you can tell whether you are rotation too fast or too slow.

Arch you back to slow your spin, or pull your legs around if you need more rotation. As you come around look through your legs at the landing then reach out and stick it. Remember to put your head as far back as you can when you are taking off- that’s how you see your landings.
