| Taking off Switch-
Before you try this make
sure you can ski switch
first.
HOW-TO
Before taking off a jump
switch make sure your comfortable skiing switch. Then start
off by practicing on smaller jumps and work your way up
to bigger ones. This will build your confidence and keep
you from getting scared when moving onto the bigger jumps.
Getting scared can sometimes be your worst enemy.
As you approach the
jump, make sure you assume the position just as if you were
skiing forward. Look over either shoulder, whatever feels
more comfortable so that you can see the jump, its lip,
and the direction you are headed.
Don’t try and
apply all the pressure to your heels, you still want to
feel it in the front of your feet towards your toes. At
the lip of the jump pop just as you would if you were taking
off forward. As you take flight, the most important thing
for me is to raise my knees almost to my chest to maintain
balance.
If you plan on spinning,
you can still look over either shoulder. Just before the
lip, bring you head around so your facing up-hill to wind
up. Then bring your head and shoulders around as you pop
off the lip.
Got it? Well now you have to learn how to
land switch.
