Learning The Trick

General Overview

Dropping in is the act of starting at the top of a ramp or any obstacle and rolling down it on your skateboard.

Preparation

Find the insane obstacle your going to drop in on, throw your board down and prepare for the ride.

Doing It

Step 1 - Part one of dropping in is to set your board on the obstacle, it is very important to set your skateboard with the back wheels on the transition. I’ve seen many people try dropping in with their wheels on the flat before the transition or on the wrong side of the coping. This always spells disaster, save yourself the pain and humiliation.

Step 2 - Place your back foot on the tail of the board. Your foot should be centered horizontally on the tail. The end of the tail should be even with the outside of your back foot.

Step 3 - Put your front foot on the second set of bolts on the front truck. Again your front foot should be horizontally centered on the board.

Step 4 - Now for the hard part, getting the guts to actually drop in. This is the step that separates the men from the boys. Many people lean way over their toes when they drop in, again this is a good way to get hurt. The proper way to do it is to keep your body directly over your skateboard, donÕt lean over your toes or your heels. Now that your keeping centered on your board you have to worry about wheeling out or going over the bars. It is quite rare to see somebody go over the bars most of the time they wheelie out. With that in mind your going to have lean into the ramp way more than you think you have to. If you can think about it, the best way to do the drop in is to just put your front wheels on the transition.

Step 5 - After your wheels have hit the transition you are going to speed up until you are at the bottom of the transition. Make sure you stay leaning forward until you are at the bottom.

Finishing

Step 6 - Ride it away and go and pull your blunt to fakie on the next wall.
