“I can beat him riding Fakie.”

Riding Fakie means that you are riding with your opposite foot forward then you typically do. This means to be riding fakie when you are regular footed you are now riding with your right foot forward. To ride fakie when you are goofy footed you need to be riding with your left foot forward.

Learning to ride fakie is just like relearning to carve. It is, however, an essential aspect in the freestyle world of snowboarding. Many tricks are either started or landed riding fakie.

A good way to get better at it is to just make yourself ride fakie for an hour every day. Pick a time when you aren’t too tired (like the end of the day or before lunch) or are too anxious to go get freshies (like the beginning of the day). Also on the crappy days when everything is either super tracked out or way to icy go find some mellow groomed runs and ride fakie all day. After you are feeling more confidient then practice making turns around obstacles. Don’t use trees right away as obstacles because they don’t move when you hit them. Also practice ollies and manuals riding fakie.
